A man has been arrested and is being held at Waterford Garda Station after an assault on paramedic staff on the grounds of University Hospital Waterford.
The incident happened after 9 o'clock last night, when an ambulance crew responded to a call out in Waterford City.
The patient became aggressive while in transit and proceeded to assault both paramedics on board the vehicle.
Neither were seriously injured in the incident.

The aggressor was treated in hospital and was taken to Waterford Garda Station, where he is still being detained.
