A 25-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after falling in the Comeragh Mountains.
The incident happened at Mahon Falls this afternoon when the man sustained injuries to both his ankles.
Liam McCabe is Team Leader with South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association:
"A 25-year-old male took a significant fall on the falls, he didn't fall very far but the location of the fall and the nature of his injuries made him completely incapacitated.
"Rescue 117 effected an airlift, supported by mountain rescue ground teams."
He added that it was "a successful outcome to what otherwise could have been a very challenging situation".
Liam McCabe says they had 25 team members at the scene.
"The anticipation was that the casualty may have to be stretcher-carried out because of his location.
"It was quite a technically challenging evacuation by the helicopter but the helicopter effected a very well performed rescue which meant that the team was not needed.
"If we were needed it would have taken all those bodies to carry out a stretcher from the location."
