Water is expected be be restored to hundreds of homes and businesses in Dungarvan, Ballinacourty, Abbeyside and Ballinroad this morning
Yesterday, some businesses were forced to close due to a major outage due to emergency works at the Dungarvan Water Treatment Plant
Irish Water and Waterford City and County Council say they greatly regret the inconvenience to customers which affected up to 8,000 customers
Customers in Dungarvan and surrounding areas experienced supply disruption yesterday as a result of mechanical issues with a pump at the treatment plant. Crews worked through the night to carry out repairs and the plant was brought back into production at about 6.30 this morning. Supply should now be returning to all areas affected as the network refills.
Colin Cunningham of Irish Water said: “We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by this unplanned issue and wish to apologise for any disruption to residents or businesses.
“Repairs have now been completed and we are continuing to monitor the supply to ensure that it is returning to normal. It make take a number of hours for normal pressure to return to all areas, particularly on higher ground or at the end of the network. Meanwhile customers on the Ring Helvick Water Supply Scheme and Customers at Roberts Cross, Leagh Cross and Loskeran are advised that there may be interruptions to their water supply today
