Live music is set to return to Waterford today - thanks to the Anseo Festival.
A number of local artists will play at live concerts at Dungarvan's Walton Park today, and Waterford's Millennium Plaza on Sunday.
Concerts will run twice daily at 2 and 7 o'clock - and it is a ticketed event.
Event organiser Brendan McLoughlin told WLRs Geoff Harris how the event came about:
"It came about when myself and a colleague, Nicole McKenna were throwing about ideas earlier this summer with ideas on how to get people back gigging. We thought that it would be great to get local people performing within their local areas. There was a series of government funding, we teamed up with Waterford City & County Council - and along with Showscope, we're producing these live events this weekend."
McLoughlin explained how it will all work, given the limited numbers allowed to attend the outdoor events.
"We're doing site inspections before we roll in. We'll bring a 7 x 5 metre stage with us, and we'll have a LED screen which will be the backdrop. There's everything that you would see at your typical concert but it will be to a smaller scale but the same quality."
Waterford City & County Council have helped to establish these ticketed events, and Brendan says they have gone above and beyond to make it happen.
"Conor Nolan and all his team in the Arts Office have been amazing, as have Finn Brophy and those guys. They picked up the phone all the time and were always willing to help - they really went above and beyond."
