Figures released by Enterprise Ireland, showed that employment among indigenous companies rose by 4 per cent over the past 12 months.
Two thirds of the new jobs created were outside of Dublin.
The West, Mid-West and North West saw the largest level of increases at 7% in 2017.
Enterprise Ireland's South Eastern spokesperson Martin Corkery said it was good to see Waterford companies increasing their employment by four percent. He said if you look at how companies in Waterford have performed over the last few years, they have increased employment by just over twenty percent which is very encouraging to see.

He says the growth is positive, but that there is some way to go.
