West Waterford councillors have called for an action plan to be established once and for all to deal with a dangerous junction on the N25.
A number of accidents have taken place at Cushcam Cross near Garranbane, including one last week.
Councillor Damien Geoghegan raised the issue at this week's Dungarvan and Lismore District meeting of Waterford Council. He says it is a matter of time before a serious accident occurs.
"I am looking for an update on the long-running saga of Cushcam. It has been going on now for 8 - 10 years at this stage if not more. Finance was put in place and as far as we were concerned it was ready to go and yet we still see Cushcam no improvements there.
"There was another accident again there last week, but that junction at Cushcam as you head down to Ballinroad towards the Garranbane school for wood road, is probably the most dangerous junction on the N25 without a shadow of a doubt. It is a long-running saga in this chamber as far as I'm concerned, and it needs to be addressed."
In a separate incident on the N25, Four men were also hospitalised as a result of a three-car collision on a section of the yesterday afternoon between Killineen East and Garranbane at approximately 3:30 pm.
Senior Roads Engineer with Waterford Council, Gabriel Hynes says the matter of Cushcam Cross lies with Tramore House (Regional Design office).
"It is in the minor works programme and yes we had a part 8 approved some years ago we have not been very successful in progressing it. It is with Tramore House (Regional Design office).
"We had some engagement with the land owners including looking at drainage design and environmental issues. It is on a programme but I can't give you a timeframe at this time.
"It is with Tramore House (Regional Design office) at the moment for progression."
