Ireland South MEP appointed to Committee on Regional Development

Ireland South Sinn Fein MEP Kathleen Funchion has been appointed to the Committee on Regional Development in the European Parliament.

The former TD for Carlow-Kilkenny was elected to the Parliament in June's elections.

Speaking to WLR News at Saturday's Iverk Show in Piltown, she says she intends to fight for real change for hard-pressed rural communities and aims to bring about change as a result of her work on this committee.

"I want to work positively for rural Ireland by securing practical measures such as funding streams that will assist groups and regional initiatives that play such an important role in assisting rural communities," she said.
