A Waterford TD has called on the Taoiseach to immediately deliver projects for Waterford which he referenced during a visit to the county at the weekend.
Simon Harris attended Sunday's Dungarvan Show and pledged supports for UHW, Waterford Airport and SETU.
He vowed to be "a Taoiseach for the South-East" and claimed "we're getting the job done for Waterford".
However, Independent TD Matt Shanahan told WLR that the government's track record on these issues isn't impressive and he has taken issue with the Taoiseach's messaging.
"On these major strategic projects, no real investment has happened," he said.
"The Taoiseach went to great lengths to speak about these three projects and basically it was a 'stick with it' message. This is similar to what Fianna Fail did in 2016, making promises about 24/7 cardiac care in an attempt to win votes."
Deputy Shanahan also responded to the Taoiseach's comments on "people talking down the South-East".
"This was was obviously a direct pop at me," he said.
"I have no problem with that - that's politics."
