WLR is in contention for a whopping FIVE national radio awards at the IMRO National Radio Awards at the Lyrath Estate Hotel this evening.
The awards ceremony will be attended by radio stations across the country, including WLR, BBC, RTE, and Newstalk among others.
Hopes are high that it will be another successful night for WLR with an impressive FIVE nominations - as the station also bids to build on four consecutive Irish Local Station of the Year titles, a run that began in 2019.
Forty-one awards in total will be handed out on the night, with each category announcing a gold, silver, and bronze winner, as well as awards for Local, Music, and National Station of the Year.
WLR has been nominated in the following categories:
- Current Affairs Programme - Local / Regional - Deise Today - Damien Tiernan and Jennifer Long
- News Story / News Event - Drug Debt and Intimidation Special - Dymphna Nugent
- News Programme - Local / Regional - WLR News at 1 Special - Mary Ann Vaughan, Kieran Foley, Dymphna Nugent, Kyle Butler and Jordan Norris
- Craoltóireacht le Gaeilge - Abair Amach É Mollai Gough - Alzheimer's Special
- Speech Broadcaster of the Year - Local / Regional - Damien Tiernan
