There has been a large increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Waterford.
342 new cases have been confirmed here this evening.
The 14-day incidence rate in Waterford is now 907.2 per 100,000 population. Yesterday, the incidence rate was 631.8.
Waterford now has the 8th highest incidence rate in the country.
1,054 cases were confirmed here in the two weeks between the 24th of December and the 6th of January.

Nationally, 6,521 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.
Another 10 people have also died with the virus.
The number of people in hospital with coronavirus has risen once again, to 1,043, with 96 in intensive care.
