Huge crowds are expected to turn out today for Dungarvan's 103rd Agricultural Show which is taking place at Ballygagin.

It is Waterford's only agricultural show, one of the largest in Munster, and one of the longest running shows in Ireland.

There is plenty to look forward to on the 90 acres this weekend, with the Waterford Truck Show joining the grounds to put on a display.

There will be Artisan Food Stalls, a falconry display, a dog show, and a Kiddies Corner.

Show Chairman Pat Cunningham is delighted to be back in action following a two-year break:

"2019 was our last show so three years is a long wait but we're back.

"Great enthusiasm with the committee and I suppose, great enthusiasm amongst sponsors to keep the show running.

"Unless we had the land-owners and sponsors, we hadn't a hope of running and we have additional carparking opposite the showgrounds.

"There'll be no carparking within the showgrounds this year, only for limited spaces. But we have new land-owners on board to give us parking so it's great.

"Everyone is pulling together to get this thing over the line."

WLR will be broadcasting live from the show from 1pm and despite it running for more than 100 years now, this is the first year that it's taking place on a Sunday.

Pat says they've worked to make it as good a show as it can possibly be:

"It's after being a long battle... but finally we've secured our Sunday date and that's going to be our date going foward.

"The truck show is massive - there's 300+ trucks booked in. It's unbelievable.

"They're coming from the North of Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and all over Ireland. It's going to bring something really different to the show."

Secretary of Home Industries, Margaret Browne says it's great to be able to get children involved with this year's show:

"We have loads of children's classes and we have mini farms and mini beaches and we have models made from vegetables and all kinds of fun things!

"It's great fun and it's lovely to get children involved. Once you get them involved young, then they'll stay with it."

With temperatues set to hit the mid-twenties in some areas across the country today, the advice for those going to the show is not to forget the sun cream.

Weatherman, Alan O'Reilly says it's going to be a beautiful day:

"It's going to get warm and there's going to be plenty of sunshine across the country. Temperatures will get up to 24 or even 25 degrees today.

"And temperatures will be rising right across the country for a lovely Sunday today."
