Gardaí in Tramore say they've had no problems with people travelling to the area to holiday this Easter weekend.
Officers are stopping people at checkpoints across the city and county to ensure they're complying with travel restrictions.
There are concerns that people are travelling to Waterford's coastal areas from outside the county.
However, Sergeant Mick Whelan from Tramore Garda Station says holidays homes and caravan parks in the town are empty:
"We've engaged with the holiday home owners and we've engaged with the caravan parks here prior to this weekend. They've all locked their premises, they've all ceased for the time being.
"Our holiday homes and our caravan parks are absolutely empty at the moment. We didn't have coerce anyone to do it; they're all playing their part."
Garda Stephanie Walsh is on a checkpoint in Tramore - she says most people are adhering to the restrictions:
"We've been here since early this morning. It is mainly local residents that are on the road; just making the essential journeys of going to the supermarket and going to the pharmacy, or the key workers going to work in town in the hospital or the pharmaceutical companies.
"We've had a few people today that are still not understanding 'stay at home', still coming out to Tramore for a walk, or wanting to come out for a spin because they're sick of being inside.
"But we are really asking that everyone stays and home and only makes essential journeys."
Meanwhile, the Health Minister Simon Harris has said that the Garda enforcement powers brought in to help slow the spread of Covid-19 will continue.
He made the announcement as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar extended the restrictions for a further three weeks until after the May Bank Holiday.
Minister Harris says they were always going to be extended, as long as the restrictions are in place:
"It was always the intention that the regulations would run alongside the recommendations and restrictions of NPHET (National Public Health Emergency Team) so I indent to intend to extend the regulations for the period of these restrictions."
