Waterford Council is asking people not to swim at Kilmurrin Cove.
The local authority has posted a temporary Do Not Swim notice at the Copper Coast beach.
High levels of bacteria were detected there this week following heavy rain.
Waterford Council says further advice will be issued when retest results become available.
