Met Eireann has issued a warning for the Waterford area saying the county can expect heavy rain and spot flooding all day today.
The warning is in place until 11pm this evening.
Forecaster Deirdre Lowe says Waterford, Cork and Kerry can expect between 25 and 35 mms of rain over the day with strong Southerly winds.
This will lead to spot flooding, especially along the coast.
Meanwhile a status yellow weather warning has been issued for the west of the country with strong winds and gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour expected.
