Waterford's Greenway would be "nothing without the amenities around it", according to the Chief Executive of Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber of Commerce .
Jenny Beresford travelled to Kerry last week to give a speech on the success of the Greenway.
Waterford's prime tourist attraction has won numerous awards and attracted thousands of visitors since it officially opened in 2016.
Speaking on WLR's the Hot Desk, Jenny said you can't have a successful Greenway without having existing amenities and infrastructure to complement it.
The CEO said the Greenway would be nothing without the businesses along its course.
"Our tourist product was there in advance of the Greenway... We had really good key features to begin with but the Greenway was the major asset that actually turned people's heads," she said.
Jenny believes if we don't have the businesses surrounding the Greenway such as the food, retail, and accommodation offerings, we may as well have no Greenway.
"That's why people look at us and say, 'wow, aren't they smart, aren't they clever".
