Two people were caught drink-driving in Waterford in recent days.
Gardai are reminding people that they are out in force across the City and County.
Waterford Roads Policing Sergeant James Twomey told WLR News
"There is obviously a decrease in traffic on the road, but we are still out there doing our job. Over the weekend unfortunately there was two drink drivers.
You would think with all pubs and movement curtailed that we would not be coming across drink drivers but in Waterford district area which includes the City
and Passage and Ferrybank we had two drink drivers, and we also had detections for section 41 of the road traffic act, that is people driving without
insurance.
He says the law doesn't stop for COVID 19.
"Even though the traffic levels have decreased, the presence of Gardai in the Waterford area is being kept up.
Our regular units are doing sterling work while they are out trying to get people to adhere to social responsibility, but they are not leaving other legal
issues go by. So if people are driving and they have no insurance or if they have something defective with their vehicles Gardai will implement the law.
