Gardai are to put restrictions in place at busy tourist spots in Waterford this weekend to prevent overcrowding.
Car parks will be monitored and when they are full, people will be turned away.
Garda Chief superintendent of the Waterford Divison Padraig Dunne says he hopes they will not have to introduce these measures.
"In conjunction with the local authorities and in conjunction with the advice of the HSE, we will be putting interventions into places such as Dunmore East; Woodstown; Tramore - especially the Promenade; Clonea; the Comeragh Mountains and Ardmore.
"Last week they were overwhelmed and nobody was maintaining social distancing so, we have to put measures in place this weekend."
He says people should stay close to their own homes.
"I would love to get the message out to people that if you stay in your locality and if you do your walk in your own locality, you will keep your community safe.
"However, if we have people all converging on the same small areas, we will make it unsafe and we will cause difficulties and cause the spread of COVID-19.
"That then puts pressure on our great staff in the hospitals who are doing a very good job to keep us safe."
