Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in his 40's from the River Suir in Waterford City.
Emergency services, including Waterford City River Rescue, Coastguard Rescue 117, the gardaí, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene earlier this afternoon.
Their rescue effort was stood down after 5 o'clock.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Gardaí are treating the case as a tragic accident.
