100 teams and 1,300 players from seven continents will descend on Waterford this summer from July 28th to August 1st.

GAA President John Horan says that the WIT Arena is perfect venue for this event.

"You're talking about over 100 teams coming from all the regions throughout the world," he said, "then you need the pitches available to keep the games going."

Tallow native and GAA Director of Games Pat Daly is one of the driving forces behind this tournament and said it'll be the biggest yet.

"The logistics are significant," he says, "having the shield and plate finals here - it's a big operation."
