Funds raised for Gavin Glynn Foundation swim at Clonea Strand

A fundraising swim will take place today to raise much-needed funds at Clonea Strand funds for the Gavin Glynn Foundation.

Local girl Caroline Kenny is currently undergoing proton therapy, which is a more targeted form of radiotherapy, for a brain tumour in Germany.

The Gavin Glynn Foundation has been a huge help to Caroline and her family by organising accommodation in Germany for Caroline and her mam Breda while the treatment takes place.

Her father Pat Kenny explained the treatment that Caroline is currently receiving.

"Caroline has an inoperable brain tumor since she was 5 and is now 14. She is receiving a special proton therapy in Germany, a type of Radiotherapy that is more targeted.

"Caroline is a child so this therapy is more concentrated and will cause less damage."

The event gets underway at 11 am.
