An application for funding to create a Dungarvan Digital Transformation Hub has proved unsuccessful.
Funding had been sought through the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
Labour Councillor Thomas Phelan raised the issue at the recent Dungarvan/Lismore District meeting of Waterford Council.
"This could have been an incubator for many businesses and hopefully will be in due course if funding materialises," he said.
"I understand that businesses using the Enterprise Centre in Dungarvan will have to vacate that premises by the end of the year, including Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber. Is there anything the Council can do to assist those businesses and the Chamber given the shortage of modern offices in Dungarvan?"
Head of Enterprise Richie Walsh responded and confirmed that the Enterprise Centre is searching for a new premises.
"We are actively looking for alternative accommodation," he said.
"The Chamber is a sub tenant of the Enterprise Centre so they're involved in that process."
In relation to funding, Mr Walsh said there is a "reasonable chance" that a funding application may be successful next year.
In January 2022, it was confirmed that Dungarvan was to get €1,394,822 for the creation of a new Digital Transformation Hub.
Richie Walsh told WLR this week that this funding was used to purchase the buildings, to prepare plans and designs and to undertake stabilization works.
"There are further enabling works to be delivered before another amended funding application is made to the RRDF or alternative funding stream for the overall regeneration works," he said.
