Funding announced for sensory infrastructure for Waterford schools

Two schools in Waterford are to receive funding for the provision of Special Education infrastructure.

Ballyduff National School is to develop a new Sensory Garden and a soft play area for three special classes.

Following a successful application for funding, the project is now at design stage.

Elsewhere, Mount Sion NS will see a new Sensory Room being developed following their application for funding.

Across Waterford, there are a substantial volume of Additional Accommodation school projects at various stages of development.

These are:

  • 3 Special Education classrooms with funding approved for St. Paul's National School
  • 6 classrooms including two Special Education classrooms and two tuition rooms in Glenbeg National School, at design stage
  • 6 Special Education tuition rooms at design stage in St. Mary's National School
  • 2 Special Education classrooms at design stage in Fenor National School
  • 2 Special Education tuition rooms at design stage in Presentation Primary School
  • 2 Special Education classrooms in Colaiste Chathail Naofa at design stage
  • 2 Special Education classrooms in Scoil Mhuire at design stage
  • 2 Special Education classrooms and 2 Special Education tuition rooms to replace prefabs in Passage East National School
  • 3 Special Education classrooms and 1 Special Education prefab as part of larger mainstream development in St. Augustine's College
  • 4 Special Education classrooms, 4 quiet spaces and ancilliary accommodation at design stage in St. Martin's Special School
  • 7 Special Education tuition rooms, 4 Special Education classrooms as part of larger development approved for De La Salle College
  • 1 Special Education classroom approved for St. Joseph's Primary School
  • 3 Special Education classrooms as part of a larger development approved for Scoil na mBraithre
  • 1 soft play area for special classes, to include fencing approved for Tramore Educate Together National School
  • Home Room Liaison Room and 2 Special Education classrooms approved for Portlaw National School
  • 4 Special Education classrooms approved for Scoil Lorcain BNS
  • 2 Special Education tuition rooms at design stage at Scoil Mhuire
