Not enough is being done to deter violence on sports pitches across the country.
That's the claim from a former GAA President which comes after Gardaí were called in to investigate a brawl at an under fifteen hurling championship match in Waterford this week.
The game was abandoned after the incident involving players, mentors and supporters on Monday night.
Former GAA President Liam O' Neill says the organisation needs to agree stronger penalties to deter and respond to such incidents.
"We condemn them when they happen but then we have the opportunity to legislate for them we don't," he said.
"We postpone making decisions and finding solutions and find ourselves in the exact same position again."
