WATERFORD City and County Council has given the go ahead to re-purpose a former Bank of Ireland building in West Waterford into accommodation.

The move was given the green light at the most recent Dungarvan Lismore district meeting of Waterford Council.

The project will see the two-storey building in Lismore transformed into holiday hostel accommodation with guest bedrooms and suites available.

There will be additional en-suite bedroom accommodations on the first and second floors.

The ground floor will provide a kitchen and dining area, storage space and an en-suite bedroom.

Conservation and refurbishment works will be completed to the roof, doors and windows, along with remedial works to the side garden, side entrance and the internal floor at a side entrance.

Changes will be made to the rear vehicular entrance to allow for safe access onto New Street, hard and soft landscaping, plant room spaces relating to mechanical and electrical installations, photovoltaic roof panels and sustainable urban drainage.
