A number of Fine Gael posters have been vandalised on the Outer Ring Road in Waterford City.

Multiple posters encouraging the public to vote for Senator John Cummins in the upcoming General Election - accompanied by posters of Taoiseach Simon Harris citing 'a new energy' have been covered in graffiti.

Waterford Gardai are reminding people that tampering with an election poster is an offence.

"A number of posters right across the county have been vandalised from all sorts of parties - and we're asking people to stay away from these posters and not to damage them. They're up for the next two weeks or so, and should any member of the public observe anyone interfering with a poster or see one that has been vandalised, we would ask them to contact their local Garda Station."
