A 36-year-old father of four is on life support after he was shot in a farmland row last Tuesday.
Keith Conlon was shot multiple times, following a row over a dog in a rural area outside of Tallaght.
A man in his 50s who was arrested at the scene in the Hazel Grove area on Tuesday remains in garda custody.
The Irish Independent reports that Keith Conlon was shot at least three times, including once in the head.
At least five people were present at the time of the shooting and Gardaí have taken statements from a number of witnesses.
The newspaper claims the main issue investigators are examining is whether the main suspect in the case was acting in self-defence.
