Emergency services were called to a medical incident on the Quay in Waterford this evening (Saturday).

Traffic coming from the direction of Reginald's Tower was almost at a standstill after reports that a person had suffered a fall onto the road near Fitzgerald Life and Pensions.

Gardaí and ambulances attended the scene and assessed the woman, who it is understood has now been removed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic remains slow but is expected to return to normal shortly.
