A County Waterford Leaving Cert student has been protesting outside the Dáil today.
Finn Robertson, who lives in Dungarvan, says the Department of Education has refused to provide him with a predictive grade for one of his subjects - preventing him from progressing to college.
He has been told this is because he was self-taught and did not have a tutor.
Finn told WLR News that he has been speaking with TDs about the issue and hopes to secure a solution.
"The ideal outcome would be a change in the guidelines so that people who have done the pres [can] be recognised and get their own mark to ensure the equal opportunity to get into third level," he said.
The 17-year-old's mother, Alex says it's been a stressful time for students affected by the issue: "It's incredibly frustrating and it's not just Finn, there are over 900 students who are in a very similar position to him. It's just a punch in the face, they have spent two years studying for this. It could have been rectified so simply, it would have taken an hour or two for an assessment, even during lock down but it was never offered to us."
