Dungarvan Fire Service have been tasked to the site of the former Dungarvan Crystal Sports Club this evening - following reports of the building being on fire at approximately 7pm.
The blaze is under control, and it is understood the incident is being treated as an act of anti-social behaviour.
The building, which is located adjacent to the Kilrush Park grounds of Dungarvan United AFC has lain derelict for a number of years.
Waterford City & County Council were in negotiations to purchase the site with the current owners as recently as March - and it is believed the matter is currently being discussed by legal teams.
