Drugs discovered at Waterford City house in follow-up search after seizure at checkpoint

Gardaí in Waterford located drugs at a house in the city centre this afternoon in a follow-up search after a seizure at a checkpoint last night.

Two men, aged 42 and 38, were stopped at a checkpoint at The Grannagh Junction Roundabout and searched before 8pm.

Two quantities of suspected diamorphine valued at 7,840 euro was discovered hidden in the car.

The men were arrested and brought to Waterford Garda Station.

A follow-up search was carried out at 1pm today at a house in the city center by members of Waterford Drugs Unit.

A quantity of diamorphine with a value of 3,640 euro was located in the property of one of the men arrested earlier.

Both men remain in custody.
