Drivers urged to allow extra time as icy conditions reported across Waterford

Drivers across Waterford are being warned of possibly hazardous conditions as a status yellow warning for ice is in place.

Black ice is possible on roads, as well as freezing rain, and even the possibility of snow later this afternoon.

The current weather warning remains in place until midday.

Siobhán Ryan, Meteorologist with Met Éireann says conditions are poor out there this morning:

"Obviously, it's very cold, it's icy, and we've got a band of precipitation currently sinking down from the North of Ireland.

"There's a real mix of rain, sleet and some snowfall embedded in that and also the potential for some black ice on the leading edge of that in particular.

"So, really treacherous, cold and icy conditions out there, particularly in the morning hours."
