A man has appeared in court in connection with the robbery of Hallmark Jewellers in City Square in Waterford.
On Wednesday, January 10, a man entered the premises armed with a machete before leaving on foot with a quantity of jewellery.
61-year-old William O'Connor from Carrigeen, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary appeared before Waterford District Court at 11.30am this morning, charged with the incident.
Judge Kevin Staunton ordered that the man be remanded in custody, to appear via videolink on January 25.
While no application for bail was made, Solicitor for the Defense John O'Donoghue noted that an objection for bail had been made.
Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions have been requested.
