A Do Not Consume water notice remains in place for all customers served by the Ballyogarty Public Water Supply Scheme in Kilmacthomas.
The notice was issued earlier this week following consultation with the HSE to protect the health of customers on the supply after the detection of an exceedance of arsenic.
Residents and businesses on the supply have been dealing with the impact of the notice, including Stephen Lynch of Coach House Coffee who told WLR it's a significant inconvenience and "couldn't have come at a worse time".
"These two weeks would typically be the busiest of the summer for us," he said.
"It's not great timing but we're lucky that we have a water tanker in place at the moment."
He praised the response of Waterford Council representatives on the ground in Kilmacthomas who have been giving regular updates on the issue.
The notice applies to all areas supplied by the Ballyogarty Public Water Supply including Ballyogarty, Graigueshoneen, Cooltubrid East and areas of Kilmacthomas including Union Road, Hillside Crescent, Hillside Close and Cruachán View.
Uisce Éireann has highlighted this is not a Boil Water Notice.
"Boiling the water is not a suitable measure to make the water safe to consume. It is especially important that mains drinking water is not given to bottle fed infants," a statement from Uisce Eireann says.
Jim Fitzgerald, Regional Operations Manager for South East/Midlands with Uisce Eireann spoke to WLR this week and gave advice to residents and businesses.
Uisce Eireann says an alternative water supply in the form of a bulk tanker will be in place at Kilmacthomas GAA Club. Drinking water compliance and operational experts are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Speaking about the imposition of the notice, Uisce Éireann’s Maura Phelan said: “Uisce Éireann is aware of the impact a Do Not Consume Notice has on the community and would like to reassure impacted customers we are working to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. We would ask customers who have concerns to contact our customer care team on 1800 278 278.”
