Decade old water issues in Killea and Dunmore East to be repaired

Work has now started on repairing a water supply that's been causing problems for people between Killea and Dunmore East for more than 10 years.

Water outages during the summer months have been a common feature in those areas, when demand is at its highest.

Speaking to WLR News, Councillor Pat Fitzgerald says works to fix the problem got underway last week.

"It will go on for the next two months or thereabouts and there will be some traffic disruption but it will be worth it.

"That particular line used to go down every summer and it used to go down maybe half a dozen times during the summer and it caused all  of problems for the lower Dunmore East and Killea areas.

Hopefully that problem will be solved forever once the new line goes down."

The intended works were announced in January of this year.
