Former workers from Debenhams in Waterford remain on the picket lines despite a potential deal being on the table, proposed by KPMG liquidators and Mandate Trade union.

They are still holding a rally in Waterford City from 2.00pm as part of their campaign to get a fair redundancy.

Michelle Gavin says the offer of one million euro equates to less than €1,000 each.

She says they were looking for two weeks pay for each year service on top of the statutory redundancy:

"You couldn't even put it in terms of two weeks, it doesn't equate to anything.

"If the stock sells well we may get an extra percentage on top of that, but that depends on how it sells and it wouldn't be the until the New Year."

Debenhams shop stewards say they're united in their disgust of and opposition to what they call a derisory redundancy

Staff have been picketing the company's 11 stores including Waterford since they closed last April.
