15 people died from Covid-19 in Waterford last week.
That's according to preliminary figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and covers the week ending last Friday, January 22nd.
It brings to 40 the total number of people who died due to the coronavirus in Waterford since the outbreak began.
85 per cent, or 34 of those deaths, have occurred during the first three weeks of January.
The median age of those who died was 83.
14 people died from Covid-19 in Waterford during the week ending January 15th and five people died during the week ending January 8th. There were deaths due to Covid-19 recorded during the previous two weeks however, the CSO does not release the exact figure when it is less than five.
