Tributes are being paid to the man who died after being hit by a car on the Cork Road in Waterford two weeks ago.

Damien Barry passed away in hospital yesterday morning.

"Damien epitomised all that is good in a person", so reads a statement posted by Butlerstown Camogie Club.

Damien Barry was their intermediate head coach and they say it's "difficult to put into words at the moment the sadness and bewilderment" being felt in the community.

His departure will have a "profound impact for years to come", the statement continues.

Meanwhile, Butlerstown GAA Club say he came into their club more than 10 years ago and gave "sterling service as a juvenile coach".

They've lost count of the amount of teams he helped out with over the years.

In a post on their Facebook page, Clanna Gael GAA Club say they have lost a "mentor, committee member and friend."

Damien was "one in a million, a gentleman, kind, full of compassion and positivity," who gave "150% to everything he did."

Mr Barry, who was in his 50s, passed away yesterday, two weeks to the day after the accident on the Cork Road.

He leaves behind his wife, four children, and his granddaughter.
