A section of the roof of a commercial premises in Cleaboy became detached and resulted in debris being scattered across the adjacent road.
Meanwhile, there was traffic disruption earlier due to a fallen tree in the Killure area outside the city.
Waterford City and County Council and the Road Safety Authority have both urged motorists to take care during the duration of the Status Orange warning.
As of lunchtime, around 34,000 ESB customers were without power around the country.
Gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour have been recorded in Mayo and Galway - where a Status Orange wind warning will remain in place until 6pm.
The remainder of the country is subject to a yellow alert until 8pm.
