Plans have been submitted to develop a 'super premium whiskey distillery' inside five 180-year-old former agriculture buildings at Curraghmore Estate, Portlaw.
The plans have been lodged with Waterford City & County Council by the Earl of Tyrone, Richard de la Poer Beresford.
According to a report in the Sunday Independent, it's planned that the distillery would contain carbon-neutral elements as well as a visitor centre.
The Earl of Tyrone is seeking to change the use of five agricultural buildings for the distillation and maturation of spirits and retail use - while the proposed development will also include five bus and 28 car parking spaces.
Plans for the distillery at the Curraghmore Estate were first drawn up in 2019. Richard Tyrone is listed as the Managing Director of Curraghmore Whiskey Ltd. - which was established in 2016.
