1,838 patients with Covid-19 are currently being treated in Irish hospitals.
The figure has been rising since December and marks a new record during the pandemic.
At University Hospital Waterford there were 78 patients with the virus on-site at 8 o'clock last night - six of those are in intensive care.
7 new Covid-19 cases were admitted over the previous 24 hours.
Nationally there have been 149 admissions to hospital in a 24 hour period and 128 discharges - which is a new record.
However, the number of patients with Covid-19 in ICUs has dropped from yesterday's record high.
169 patients are currently in ICUs, a fall from Wednesday's figure of 176.
On Wednesday, the Department of Health confirmed that there had been 63 additional deaths related to Covid-19.
