Intercounty GAA training will be allowed to resume from April 19th.
The cabinet is also discussing, allowing fully-vaccinated people to meet-up indoors from April 12th as well as a significant overhaul of the vaccination programme.
Once over-70s, people with underlying conditions and vulnerable people are vaccinated, the system will change to one based on age.
It means individual groups like gardaí, teachers, and family carers won't be bumped up the queue for vaccines.
It's hoped the changes will lead to a simplified system for delivering vaccinations.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin is expected to give an outline of what restrictions can ease in May, June, and July during an address to the nation this evening. Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath says they know they need to give people some relief:
"I think it is about striking the balance because we have made huge progress as a country and there are brighter days ahead.

"Victory over this virus is now within grasp, it is within our reach because of the collective efforts of the Irish poeople."

"We need to do, what we need to do to prevent the fourth wave, but at the same time we recognise there is an onus on government to give something tangible to people who have made such sacrifices," he said.
