Covid-19 cases beginning to rise again in Waterford after drop last week

The number of Covid-19 cases in Waterford dropped by almost 50% last week.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has released its weekly report on the epidemiology of the virus.

It shows that 26 cases were confirmed in Waterford between the 29th of November and the 5th of December.

That gives a 7-day incidence rate of 22.4.

50 cases were confirmed in Waterford during the previous week (22nd of November to 28th of November) when the 7-day incidence rate was 43.0 per 100,000 people.

The median age of cases in Waterford is now 33, down from 35 last week.

However, 27 cases have been confirmed in Waterford over the last three days. That's more than all of last week.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) announced 8 new cases in Waterford yesterday evening. It means the 14-day incidence rate here has increased to 78.3. The national total is 79.5.
