COVID-19: 17 more deaths; 325 new cases

Covid-19 has claimed a further 17 lives in the Republic, while 325 new cases have been confirmed.

71 people have now died here from the virus. 52 males and 19 females have died.

Of the 17 deaths, there were 8 deaths in the east of Ireland, 3 deaths in the south and 6 in the west. 8 are reported to have underlying conditions.

The media age of those who died was 84

The total number of cases also stands at 3,235.

To date 30,213 tests have been carried out, as of midnight on Monday.

Over the past week, the positivity rate for tests carried out increased from 6% to 15%. The Department of Health say that's the objective of their new case definition.

As of midnight on Sunday there were 33 cases in Waterford.
