COVID: 14-day incidence rate in South East lowest in country despite reaching 425

The South East has the lowest incidence rate of Covid-19 in Ireland despite recording more than 2,000 cases over the last fortnight.

According to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, 2,172 cases were recorded in the region from the 21st of December to the 3rd of January.

The 14-day incidence rate here is now 425.6 per 100,000 people.

CHO5 includes Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, and Wexford.

The North West has the highest incidence rate, it is 786.9.

Waterford is one of the better performing counties despite recording its highest ever 14-day incidence rate. The incidence rate in Waterford is now 414.9 after 482 cases were confirmed here during the fortnight ending at midnight on Sunday. 6 counties have lower rates than Waterford, they are Kildare, Roscommon, Westmeath, Leitrim, Tipperary and Wicklow.
