People are now being advised NOT to swim at Councillors Strand in Dunmore East.
Waterford City and County Council has issued an alert after testing of samples from the bathing waters found the bacteria levels are above thresholds.
They say further samples were taken yesterday and today and they are to be analysed.
Further updates will be issued when more is known.
It comes in a week where a complaint was made to the EPA about the council's use of chlorine in that water to counteract any bacteria.
