Waterford City and County Councillors are hoping to receive reports from Mount Congreve following the Council's loan provision earlier this year.
In September, Waterford Councillors voted in favour of a €750,000 loan to be provided to Mount Congreve.
Tense exchanges ensued across the chamber during September's Plenary meeting of Waterford Council in relation to the loan.
At December's Plenary meeting, Sinn Féin Cllr Pat FitzGerald asked for reports to be provided from the tourist attraction.
"Do we get a report on how they're getting on out there? And is that a quarterly report or two reports in a year?, he asked.
"We need to have an ongoing assessment," he added.
Independent Cllr David Daniels stated that reports on an annual basis would not be sufficient and he called for Key Performance Indicators.
"I think we mentioned at the last meeting that KPIs would be given to us more often, that we could get a feel for how it's going out there," he said.
"I think a year is too long, maybe quarterly or something, and I appreciate that it would have to be confidential, but it would give us a feel of how things are going out there."
Labour's Thomas Phelan asked whether the council has collateral against the loan.
Independent Councillor Joe Kelly reminded his fellow peers of the work being undertaken at Mount Congreve.
"The board is a voluntary board, and they're doing excellent work and putting their shoulder to the wheel to try and turn Mount Congreve around," he stated.
"It's a difficult project, a big area, an old house and all of the things that they're trying to do should prove fruitful over the next maybe three to four years, so will require ongoing funding."
Cllr Kelly also stated that public money has to be spent with due care.
"We can be critical of aspects because it's public money and we have to be careful how we spend it."
"I just want to say and put it on the record that members of the board are voluntary people who are doing this for the good of the county and their general civic pride in what they do."
"There's nobody getting paid, some staff all right, but at the board level, it's all free gratis, that these people are doing it for. And we're lucky to have people of that calibre."
Director of Services for Economic Development, Michael Quinn said that two reports per calendar year may be feasible.
"In terms of a progress report, we can certainly get that, maybe on a half-yearly basis, it probably would be appropriate," he said.
"In terms of KPIs, we'll see what's appropriate to include in that, because that would be somewhat sensitive just from the point of view of the business itself, and in relation to security."
"We appoint the board, so we effectively control the company, or the trust as it is, so it's unnecessary to get security specifically for it, because we effectively have a controlling interest in the operation."
