A local Councillor has called on Waterford Council to write a letter to Minister Roderic O'Gorman regarding Ukrainian residents who were provided a notice to quit their accommodation recently.
Dónal Barry brought forward the issue at the most recent Metropolitan meeting citing how difficult the situation has been for the families involved.
He says finding accommodation is incredibly difficult and has called for Waterford Council to support the families concerned.
Ukrainian families have received a notice to quit their accommodation in Waterford in several hotels according to the Waterford City South Councillor.
Cllr Barry has stated the families are 'distraught' at the situation.
"A lot are working here in Waterford. Their children are in school. It's a brutal way for people to be treated. They embed themselves in the community and they're contributing to the local community and after two years they get notice to get out of the property and to try and find somewhere. In this climate there is nowhere for them to go," he said.
