A decontamination exercise was carried out at Dublin's Mater Hospital earlier this week after a patient was brought in with a suspected case of the Chinese coronavirus.
The woman had returned from the Asian country and had a fever, but was assessed and found not to have the virus.
An ambulance was decontaminated by staff on Tuesday as a precaution, according to the Irish Independent.
The Chinese city of Wuhan has temporarily shut down public transport as it tries to halt the outbreak of a deadly new virus.
Those living in the city have been advised not to leave.
There are now more than 600 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 25 people have died.
The World Health Organisation is deciding whether to declare the outbreak a global emergency.
