A flag-raising ceremony is being held at Waterford Fire Station today in honour of two firefighters who lost their lives in the US - one of whom had Waterford connections.
A fire in Baltimore, Maryland two weeks ago claimed the lives of two firefighters who were tasked with tackling the blaze - Firefighter Rodney Pitts and Captain Dillon Rinaldo.
Captain Rinaldo's family all hail from Larchville in Waterford City and two of Waterford Cty Fire Service firefighters are currently in Baltimore to attend Captain Rinaldo's funeral service which takes place today.
Also at 10am this morning, the Waterford City Fire Service will hold a flag-raising ceremony outside their station in Kilbarry in honour of Captain Rinaldo and Firefighter Pitts.
