Ruth Purcell Healy, Williamstown, Waterford is to be sent forward for trial in the Central Criminal Court, the most serious criminal court in the country.
Ms. Purcell Healy is currently a patient in the Central Mental Hospital and therefore an application for bail was not necessary. However, solicitor for the defense, Mr. Ken Cunningham reserved the right to make a bail application in the future.
The Book of Evidence was served before Waterford District Court today, presided over by Judge Kevin Staunton.
Following an order of consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions issued on April 9th 2024, the book will now accompany the case to the current term sittings of the Central Criminal Court.
One amendment to the single charge sheet of murder was made to Judge Staunton, namely that the night in question be amended to show both dates inclusive.
In addressing Ms. Purcell Healy, who stands accused of the murder of her six-year-old son Matthew Healy in the Rathmoylan area of Dunmore East, Judge Staunton gave an alibi warning.
He also issued a Section 56 order in relation to the gathering of evidence.
